MY OWN PATH TO FINDING BALANCE
As a teen I developed an eating disorder. I had a hard time dealing with the fact that my body was changing and I had no control over my weight. I felt very unhappy with my own body. At that time, I started trying various diets. Some of them had some effect for a while, but in the end it came down to me starving myself a lot. After a short time, I started to have enormous eating binges. At such times I would really stuff myself with crisps, chocolate, biscuits, etc. After which I felt even more miserable and ashamed of myself. I didn't dare to eat in front of others. I felt depressed, lonely and unable to love myself. Yet years later, I managed to lose 17 kg without any diet
ENDOMETRIOSIS
Starting at age 14, I experienced extremely heavy and painful menstrual symptoms that severely impacted my life. Each month, I was unable to function for several days, often having to crawl on the floor due to the intense pain. The stomach cramps were so severe that I would vomit, and no pain relief worked. I sometimes took as much as 6000 mg of Naproxen daily, but it made no difference. These symptoms took a massive toll on my quality of life, affecting not only me but also those around me for nearly half of each month.
AND THEN - THE SOLUTION
My physical condition and the amount of stress in my life at that time led me to have a burnout. I didn't know how to deal with the stress and thought that above all I had to be strong and not give up. I started exercising more and more, believing that it would help me relax and make me fitter and stronger. I demanded more and more from myself and my body. Until the day when I literally fell down after I had gone for a run and could not get up anymore. My whole body was hurting severely. This was the sign that I had to stop what I was doing and realise that my old habits no longer served me. I became aware that I had to change course.
I started to study nutrition and slowly changed my eating pattern and habits. I consciously started eating differently. I learned more and more about the role of nutrition and I applied that knowledge to myself. I also decided to use specific, natural food supplements to support everything even more. This without a specific diet. After a few months I started to notice a difference. My body became balanced, I lost the necessary kilos and I had much more energy. Moreover, I no longer had any symptoms to do with my endometriosis. I was free of pain!
I also noticed that my whole body started functioning better, my joints felt more supple and were no longer painful. My hair and skin improved enormously and my nails became stronger.
Now I am healthier, fitter, slimmer and more energetic than ever. I feel good in my body and mind. I can enjoy good food and an occasional drink again. I don't have to deny myself anything anymore. I have found my balance and I would like everyone to feel that way. Including you!
